Dates for Shorebased Theory CoursesShore-Based Theory Courses Our shore-based courses run throughout the winter months. RYA Day Skipper and Yachtmaster theory courses in Burnham are available either as a 6-day intensive courses over 3 weekends or a 6 day intensive course (Monday to Saturday). Maximum 8 persons.
Basic Navigation and Safety is a new two day RYA shore-based course. The course is the perfect stepping stone to the more in-depth Day Skipper Theory course, or to courses on the water such as the Intermediate Powerboat, Start Yachting or Day Skipper courses. Choose one of the following weekends.
First Aid, VHF Radio (MDSS) and Deisel Engine courses are available as one-day courses on each of the following days.
Shore-based courses are held at the Royal Burnham Yacht Club. See map for details. Sessions start at 9:30 and end at 16:30 with 45 minute lunch break. You will be expected to do at least 2 hours homework per week between lessons. Prices include RYA course packs where appropriate, test papers and certificates. Tea and coffee will be available throughout the day and you can bring a packed lunch or eat in our club from the bar menu.
