Our Training Boats
We have three modern 35ft yachts based in Burnham, plus a RIB for power boat courses. All our yachts have up-to-date equipment on deck, with headsail furling, mainsail stack system with lazy jacks, self-tailing winches and auto pilot.
Their navigator's work-stations have all the other necessary navigational equipment including chart plotter, GPS satellite navigation and radar. The use and operation of these systems is part of the course.
There are 8 berths but we only carry a maximum complement of 5 persons on each course.
Piranha is a Bavaria 36 and was new in 2006.

Paloma is a Holiday 34, the cruising version of the well known South African designed and built class of racing yachts known as the L34 which have competed successfully in numerous Cape to Rio and Beachcomber Mauritius to Durban races. Designed to be sailied in the southern oceans, "Paloma" is sturdily built and capable of safe passages in most weather conditions.
Our Cruising Area
Our home town port is Burnham-on-Crouch, Essex. Here we have the sheltered waters necessary for the safe familiarisation of our boat and its equipment. Sailing out of the river Crouch leads us to the northern part of the Thames estuary and from here we visit not only the ports of Essex, Suffolk, Kent and the South Coast but we also cruise to Gibraltar, Holland, Belgium, France, Spain and the Channel Islands. We make our courses exciting and interesting, afloat and ashore.
Our Courses have been priced to give real value for money; compare us to other sailing schools. We don't cram you in like sardines and our pass rate last season was 100 percent. We also offer discounts for group bookings and students (please telephone for details). Most of your food is provided (you will get a chance to cook some of it).
There are no hidden extras. We can supply waterproofs and lifejackets. You will need bring, warm clothes, gloves and hats, also deck shoes or trainers plus sea boots if you have them and we prefer that you bring your own sleeping bag although there is no extra charge to use ours.
Potential skippers might want to bring their own plotting instruments, binoculars and hand bearing compasses but are welcome to use ours. A small torch is always handy and please feel free to bring your camera, and of course a change of clothes to go ashore.
Non-Tidal RYA courses in the Mediterranean are also now available. These are held aboard our superbly equipped 46ft Bavaria which is also available for crewed charter holidays. Please call for more information.
If you are in any doubt about the right course to suit you then please give us a call.
