Joining Instructions

For practical sailing courses, we meet at the Burnham Yacht Harbour, Foundry Lane, Burnham-on-Crouch, Essex CM0 8BL. We will let you know the yacht's name and berth number by phone or email and the harbour master knows where we are.

Burnham Yacht Harbour

You will need to bring a sleeping bag and pillow cases (we supply pillows and cushions), wash gear and a towel plus at least one full change of clothes. Bring a hat and gloves or sun glasses and sun cream depending on the time of year. Sailing shoes are better than trainers but not essential. Treat it as if you were going camping and the yacht is your transport and tent. We can supply life jackets and wet weather gear at no charge.

You will need an RYA Log Book "G15" for your instructor to sign. We can supply these and other course books at the start of your course or you can get them from good chandlers like Mailspeed of Burnham.

Once you have parked your car, you will find our yachts on E pontoon. 'Selkie' is on E19, 'Piranha' is on E23 & 'Paloma' on E24.

The gate code to the pontoons is changed frequently. If we have not advised you before arrival then just ask the harbour master but we will endeavour to tell you beforehand with your allocated yacht & name of your instructor by phone call/text/ or e-mail. We will be there from 09:00 so try to arrive at the yacht by 09:30. If you are delayed you can call Des on 07885 333922 or the harbour master on 01621 782150 will pass on a message.

Shore-based courses are held at the Burnham Sailing Club. Parking is available at the end of Remembrance Avenue (turn right opposite Tesco). The clubhouse is on the quay.
